When I was a
younger, I always saw myself as a heroin in a movie and a legend story. That
movie is Mulan. And I grew up believing this dream. I believe that I can be as
strong as Mulan. She is a hero because of her achievements, her bravery, and
her willfulness. And I have a faith that I can be a heroin just like her.
Maybe the
first time we directly imagine that a hero is someone who has a great ability
or special power just like a superman or catwoman save someone life, but
actually the definition itself not as simple as it. That’s the reason why I explained here as the teenager as hero.
Teenagers and Heroes, two powerful figures
nationalism drive. Youth Pledge
triggered 81 years ago to rekindle the spirit of unity and cohesion of
the nation at that time, but the spirit that remains in the year 1928 is still pretty hot to burn the
souls of the rich young Indonesian potential. Yes, youth is the motor life of
the nation, where the axis of regeneration began to lit.
The whole
world is full of heroes. Parents are heroes, they take care for their children.
Teachers and Lecturers are heroes, they educate people. Doctors are heroes, they
cure the patients. Kids and Students are heroes too, they are the next
generation and they are the leader of our nation. Everybody can be a hero. But no one can really “choose” a hero.
Besides nobody has the right to decide who is heroic based on their deeds. No matter their age, anyone can be a hero. So
what is the evidence that anyone can be a hero ? Yeah, there’s a kid in a class
that’s not brightest or smartest, but maybe that student has risked his life to
save someone from bullying or help the people around his neighborhood.
Let’s be
real, high schoolers or the teenagers are full of passions, anxiety, and
creativity mind. I
learned so much from experience, starting with the fact that high schoolers are
probably the most marginalized age group around. They are supremely underestimated in terms of drive,
passion, and intelligence, all three of which these students had. And mostly of teenagers are brave to take a
risk and pursued their dreams with their full heart and soul. And if they take
one smidgen of that new-found confidence back home with them, then it was all
worth it.
Teenagers, with the critical thinking and
innovative is the dynamism of national assets to drive better direction, without leaving the thought of wise elders that rich of experience. But unfortunately, not all Indonesian Teenagers
as expected. Indonesia no longer needs a pessimistic young
man, not a teenager with violence, not a student who thinks bad habits are
common, and even more Indonesia doesn’t need teens that maintain the culture of
spending money without the balance of work nor development of thought. But
Indonesia needs teenagers who can make anyone’s life better, either giving the
others hope, by showing teenager’s courage to keep The Rights or the simply way
as students is by reach a great achievements, such as winning some Olympics to
increase Indonesia’s reputation in the world.
Teenager, not just me and you, but around
the Indonesian population is 86,017,500 teens. Imagine if 80% of those 86
million people empower some ability to think about the fate of the nation, with
the foundation spirit of unity, then we all will be heroes. We no longer need a
bamboo spears, but enough with the brain sharp. We also no longer need to run
hit enemy on the battlefield, but enough to hit the poverty that struck
Indonesia 17.75% of the public
You all are heroes, we are all heroes, no
matter how much your contributions for a better Indonesia. That contributions can be
your achievements, your sacrifices, or your bright ideas, because the HERO is You.
Here in Australia, teenagers are really becoming more active especially on cyberspace with the use of an Australian internet service provider. They are becoming more and more radical.
